Strong statements have been made by the Estate Lords, Police, Politicians, Ministers and even the Chilean President after the death of the Estate Lords in Vilcun. Everything from taking justice into their own hands (some agriculturalists) to the placement of a State of Siege including the creation of specialized groups against “terrorism” with the support of soldiers from the Armed Forces.
However, all this rhetoric has been the reality of our areas in resistance for years, since the policy of the Chilean State in Wallmapu is oriented to perpetuate the occupation, using everything at hand. While they do not accept to give back the usurped Territory, the Mapuche People will continue to struggle for the reclamation of their condition as a Free and Sovereign Nation.
The Resistance Continues
Despite the new measures of repression publicized by the Interior Minister, Mapuche resistance continues in Wallmapu. Between yesterday and today 4 new actions of resistance took place affecting the interests of forestry corporations and Estate Lords.
Yesterday morning 2 trucks were attacked on the Highway connecting Capitan Pastene and Lumaco, while a warehouse containing at least two tractors and two fumigation machines was destroyed at the Santa Gisela Estate, located at the 12th Km on the route connecting Quepe and Boroa, just an hour earlier. During the afternoon in the area of Upper Huallepen, on the shoreline of Lake Lleu Lleu, 5 logging machines belonging to the a subcontractor carrying out task work for Volterra Forestry Inc were affected by fire. Today, past 5AM a fire affected the management house of Álvaro Guitérrez, residing in Las Condes.
These new actions of sabotage are focused within the low intensity war that the Chilean State maintains with the Mapuche Nation, and especially unto the State of Siege implemented by the government in great part of Mapuche Territory in conflict. Strong repression that has left the detention and post release of the Machi [Medicine Healer] Francisca Linconao Huircapan, of Lof Rawe in Vilcun and the Werken [Spokesperson] of the Autonomous Community of Temucuicui, Jaime Huenchullan.
