Wente Winkul Mapu Community Denounces the Chilean Government Strategy to Stop the Hunger Strike
Communiqué:
Firstly, we point out that the Interior Minister led by Rodrigo Hinzpeter directed a carefully studied intelligence operative with the end of destabilizing and dividing the mobilization of the brothers on hunger strike.
He first of all forced the Gendarmerie to act illegitimately, which violated the rights of the prisoners on hunger strike in transferring us under false pretences, which can be denounced as torture or kidnapping executed by the Chilean State.
The director of the Concepcion Hospital, Sergio Opazo and Vice-Director Julian Torrijos, were involved in this crime, since being transferred had no medical justification from a medical point of view.
The objective of this action by the Chilean State was nothing other than an attempt to demobilize and emotionally/physically harm our brothers and their families.
However, this generated even more resolve in our brothers and in their just demands with their actions as with that of the Mapuche Nation. These demands are:
– The annulment of the Paulino Levipan and Daniel Levinao trial.
– The application of Convention No. 169 and international agreements that Chile has signed onto.
– End the use of protected witnesses in Mapuche cases.
– Stop the raids on Mapuche communities and the police violence over children, women and elders. We want demilitarization of Mapuche Territory.
– Freedom for all Mapuche Political Prisoners and the return of our territory to our communities.
We also seek to denounce the violent repression that the
militarized police have carried out over Concepcion in different demonstrations, as with the repression of marches and the constant harassment/beatings to their families when they were detained. This clearly asserts the intention of the Chilean State to repress and annul our just demands as a People.
The clearest example of this was the operative carried out on Thursday, with more than 100 police cordoned around the hospitals with paddy wagons, water cannons, riot police (GOPE) and special force units to impose a destabilizing strategy by the Chilean State through its Minister of war, Rodrigo Hinzpeter, against the community, their families and hundreds of people that congregated in support of our brothers on their 54th Day on Hunger Strike.
